Mountain Makerspace
We’re excited to share that our Mountain Makerspace will be back at this year’s festival! We have 3 artist-led workshops happening throughout the day, so be sure to wander over with a full glass and get creative!
3:00 - 6:00 - Earring making with Amber Duncan of Mountainside
In this hands-on workshop, join local jeweler Amber Duncan of Mountainside to craft your own stylish handmade earrings!
We'll start with raw blank brass shapes and learn various metal fabrication techniques, including metal hammering, shaping, and polishing - and work using hand tools to connect pieces and learn to fabricate drop earrings with nice texture and movement. You will have the opportunity to choose from various shapes and styles, pick from a variety of textures and walk away with a completed pair of handmade one of a kind earrings!
3:00 - 4:00 - Ice Dye workshop with Jo Reynolds and Alison Malsbury
The perfect summer day craft! Learn how to use fiber-reactive dyes and the power of melting ice to create gorgeous explosions of color in dreamy watercolor like patterns on a selection of home textiles.
No experience necessary—the joy of ice dye is in the unpredictable results that come from the chemical reaction between the dye and fiber. Join us to create a totally unique piece of usable art!
4:00 - 5:00 - Dried flower wreath making with Christy Carico
Join Christy Carico at the festival Makerspace to learn how to make a beautiful dried flower wreath that will last throughout the seasons using locally foraged flowers and plants. A true drink-and-learn activity - gain knowledge of native Bonny Doon flora while sipping a locally made beverage and leave with a gorgeous wreath to boot!
This is a time slot activity dependent on a single machine to wrap the wreaths, so head over to the Makerspace early to sign up for a slot. Space is limited!
